Speaking | Shannah Game — Financial Storyteller & Performance Speaker

Financial Storyteller · Performance Speaker · Author

Stop using money as evidence against yourself.

Money is never just math. It is identity. Safety. Shame. Ambition. Caregiving. Desire. The person you thought you had to become.

Money is the mirror. Identity is the story. Self-trust is the transformation.

Who Shannah is

"I am not a money speaker. I am a financial storyteller who uses money to talk about identity, shame, self-trust, ambition, caregiving, midlife, and the lives people are quietly performing."

Shannah Game is a CFP®, Certified Trauma of Money Specialist, and best-selling author of Unraveling Your Relationship with Money. After a decade hosting a top-ranked money podcast and twenty years inside the financial planning world, she built something rare: a framework for the emotional and identity work underneath every financial decision.

She brings this to the stage as part keynote, part one-woman performance — using story, humor, and radical honesty to move audiences from money spiral to self-trust. She speaks to what no spreadsheet captures: the inherited scripts, the receipts people hide, the arrival that never feels like arrival.

Through her talks, her Money Steady™ framework, and her YouTube show Bake It Out, Shannah is building the conversation that corporate finance has been afraid to have.

The framework

The Money Steady™ Framework

Each of Shannah's talks brings this framework to life through story, humor, performance, and practical reflection.

The work begins with one premise: money is information, not identity.

Name the Spiral

What happens in your body, brain, and behavior when money stress hits? Most people have never named it. Naming it is the first act of self-trust.

Find the Story

What has this money moment come to mean about who you are? The story is almost never about the number. It's about what the number has been asked to prove.

Choose the Steady Step

What is the next honest action that builds self-trust instead of shame? Not perfection. Not a plan. One steady step, taken from a regulated place.

Signature talks

Four conversations that answer the same question.

What story are you using money to prove about who you are? Each talk approaches this from a different angle. All four are customizable to your audience and goals.

01
Signature Performance · TED-Style · Corporate Culture · Leadership

Unraveling: Who Do You Think You Are?

A one-woman performance about money, shame, inheritance, and the lives we build trying to be enough.

For audiences who want a keynote they feel in their bodies, not just a talk they take notes on.

Part keynote, part one-woman performance. Shannah tells the true story of inheriting her father's hunger for more and her mother's shame around wanting any of it — and how she spent two decades folding receipts into paper cranes so no one would see what she was spending to feel like a person.

Unraveling is about the stories about money, worth, and identity we receive before we're old enough to refuse them — and what it actually takes to put them down. Audiences leave undone, in the best way.

Best for: Corporate culture & leadership events, TED-style stages, women's leadership summits, conferences seeking a signature moment, theaters and lecture series.

What the audience leaves with

  • A new lens on the inherited stories they've been running on
  • The distinction between a story they inherited and one they chose
  • Permission to stop performing financial success
  • An experience they'll still be talking about weeks later

What the organization gets

  • A genuinely distinctive keynote — not another panel
  • Builds psychological safety across the room within minutes
  • The talk people remember the conference by

The Receipt: What You're Actually Paying For

Why we spend to feel safe, chosen, relieved, successful, or like someone else entirely.

This talk introduces the Money Steady™ framework for making financial choices without shame.

Includes Money Steady™ Framework

Every receipt tells a story. The Lululemon leggings weren't about the leggings. The DoorDash wasn't about dinner. Shannah unpacks what we're actually buying — belonging, safety, relief, an identity we're trying to hold onto — and introduces the Money Steady™ framework for looking at financial choices without turning receipts into evidence against yourself.

This is the talk that makes the financial wellness benefits your organization already offers actually get used. Your employees aren't disengaged because they don't care. They're disengaged because they're ashamed. And shame doesn't respond to information.

Best for: Corporate financial wellness programs, HR & benefits events, credit unions, women's ERGs, EAP programming, all-employee wellbeing days.

What the audience leaves with

  • Why "track your spending" never works long-term
  • The emotional contract underneath every purchase
  • The three Money Steady™ steps for choosing steady over spiral

What the organization gets

  • Higher engagement with existing financial wellness benefits
  • Addresses financial stress — a top driver of lost productivity
  • Gets to the emotional root, not just the mechanics

Leadership · High Performers · Burnout · Women's Audiences

Enough: Why Getting There Never Feels Like Arriving

For high performers who hit the number and still don't feel safe.

What if the number you're chasing was never going to make you feel safe?

You hit the number. You closed the deal. You got the title. And nothing changed. Shannah talks about the moment she finally hit her made-up "enough" number and felt absolutely nothing — the arrival fallacy that's quietly running high performers into the ground.

Enough is for the high-functioning, quietly exhausted person who keeps raising the bar because stopping feels too dangerous. This talk gives audiences permission to stop running long enough to ask what they're actually running toward — and what "enough on your own terms" could actually feel like.

Best for: Leadership conferences, executive offsites, professional associations, women's leadership events, midlife & wellness programming.

What the audience leaves with

  • Why achievement never silences the "not yet" feeling
  • The cost of being high-functioning and quietly exhausted
  • How to define enough on your own terms

What the organization gets

  • Addresses burnout in top performers — the people you can't afford to lose
  • Works powerfully for leadership and women's audiences

Women's Initiatives · Women's Health · Midlife · Menopause Conferences

Brain Fog & Bank Accounts

Why money feels harder in midlife — even when the numbers haven't changed.

Nobody warns women that perimenopause doesn't just change the body — it changes the relationship with money. The 3 a.m. spirals. The decision fatigue. The brain fog hitting right in peak earning years. As a CFP who didn't see it coming herself, Shannah names the connection no one in personal finance is talking about.

This is not a clinical talk. It's an honest one — for women who've wondered why money has started to feel like a different language, and whether something is wrong with them. Nothing is wrong with them. Their nervous system is just running hotter, and no one told them that was even possible.

Best for: Women's ERGs & networks, menopause conferences, women's health events, leadership summits, midlife & wellness programming.

What the audience leaves with

  • Why money feels harder in midlife even when the numbers haven't changed
  • How hormonal shifts affect risk, spending, and financial decisions
  • Permission to stop blaming themselves

What the organization gets

  • Support for retaining experienced women in their peak years
  • A genuinely novel session with high attendance and word-of-mouth

Bake It Out Live

A kitchen-table keynote experience unlike anything on the conference circuit.

Shannah bakes on stage. The audience processes. The recipe is a clock.

Most keynotes ask audiences to sit still and take notes. Bake It Out Live asks something different: watch something be made from scratch while you do the same thing internally.

Shannah bakes something gluten-free on stage — from ingredients to finished thing — while guiding the audience through a money story they've never said out loud. Each step in the bake cues a deeper layer of the conversation. The audience doesn't bake. They witness. And witnessing something being made with care, slowly, with real ingredients, without shortcuts, does something to a room that slides and bullet points simply cannot.

Best for: Conference keynotes seeking a true signature moment, corporate retreats, women's summits, off-sites, festivals, and theaters. Scales to any room size. Available as a standalone keynote or paired workshop.

What makes it unlike anything else

  • Shannah bakes — the audience reflects — no dietary logistics required
  • Gluten-free by design, inclusive by intention
  • Scales to any room size without changing the experience
  • No other speaker on the circuit does this

Shannah's signature method for moving audiences from money spiral to self-trust — three steps: Name the Spiral, Find the Story, Choose the Steady Step. Woven into every talk.

How far in advance should we book?
