A Hey Shannah Original

For women who want something actually worth opening.

For the Record is an editorial-style newsletter about money, work, menopause, midlife, reinvention, and who the hell you are now — with essays, videos, pictures, links, things I like, useful money thoughts, and whatever else deserves a spot.

Not another money newsletter.

More like a little digital magazine from my brain.

I know how quickly an inbox fills up with things that feel like homework. I do not want For the Record to be that.

Yes, I am a money behavior expert. Money will always be part of the conversation. But so will the rest of life: a video I cannot stop thinking about, a recipe worth making, what I am building, a menopause story, something I changed my mind about, a great article, a weird cultural observation, a photo dump, or the thing women are saying privately that deserves to be said out loud.

The goal is simple: you should want to linger in it.

What an issue might look like

A little useful. A little unhinged.

There is structure, but it is not precious. Sections can come and go. Some weeks will be essay-heavy. Some will have more pictures or video. Think recurring columns inside a publication, not a rigid newsletter template.

The Essay

The thing I cannot stop thinking about.

Money, ambition, identity, work, menopause, starting over — told through something real instead of a lecture.

Money Shit You Should Know

Useful. Normal-human language.

A money behavior, headline, idea, or shift worth understanding without turning it into homework.

Currently Obsessed

Things I like enough to tell you about.

Food. Clothes. Books. Products. Places. A weird little thing that made Tuesday better.

Behind the Scenes

What I am building or changing my mind about.

Business experiments, ideas in progress, photos, mistakes, and the stuff that usually gets edited out.

The Point

Lots of pictures. Interesting sections. Personality. Something you actually look forward to.

Somewhere between an essay, a zine, a lifestyle edit, and the smartest group text you are in.

Why For the Record?

Because life got more interesting when I stopped trying to make it look tidy.

I have spent more than two decades talking about money professionally. The part I care most about now is everything money bumps into: identity, safety, ambition, pleasure, work, bodies, relationships, reinvention, and the version of success we thought we were supposed to want.

Midlife has a way of making all of that louder. For the Record is where I get to follow the interesting thread — wherever it goes.
